STORAGE / LOCAL COMMAND GENERATION
ZFS command generator
Prepare OpenZFS pool commands for mirrors, RAIDZ, dRAID and several data vdevs. Enter actual device paths, review the preview command, then copy the commands for your own machine.
Pool and devices
Enter your disk paths and generate the commands.
Preview before creating the pool
Run the -n command on your own machine to display the proposed layout without creating it. The real creation can still fail due to permissions, devices or incompatible replication.
Create the pool — formats selected devices
The following command creates the pool and writes ZFS labels to the listed devices. Confirm disk identities and existing data before running it. No force option is added.
Inspect the created pool
Understand the generated layout
Each row is one top-level data vdev. A mirror duplicates data; RAIDZ1/2/3 uses one, two or three parity levels; dRAID combines parity groups with distributed spare space inside its children. Separate hot-spare device paths remain outside the data vdevs. Losing one top-level data vdev can lose the whole pool.
dRAID requires supported OpenZFS versions. The generated syntax follows OpenZFS 2.3; minimum sector allocation, small-block padding and compression affect actual capacity. This generator omits force, labelclear, destroy and automatic execution. Different redundancy levels may be rejected by OpenZFS rather than overridden.
All inputs and commands stay in this browser. Shell quoting protects mountpoints and names; path validation rejects traversal, options and pseudo-devices. This does not prove the real disks are empty or distinct. Review disk serials and use the native OpenZFS checks on your machine.
