WEB / LOCAL TEXT COMPARISON
Report comparison
Compare two pasted reports before and after a configuration change. See added and removed lines with their original line numbers. Reports remain in this browser; the tool does not apply changes.
Paste the two reports
Paste text and compare the reports.
Comparison result
- Added lines
- Removed lines
- Unchanged lines
- Content lines before / after
B is the original line number in Before; A is the original line number in After. Moves appear as a removal and an addition. Empty lines are labeled explicitly.
When this helps
Paste two DNS, HTTP, TLS or other diagnostic reports to see what changed after editing a configuration. Run the actual diagnostic again to collect the newer report, then compare it here. This tool reads pasted text only; it does not rerun a diagnostic or connect to a host.
What the comparison means
Lines are compared in order. It is a text diff, not a semantic JSON, DNS or configuration validator. Reordered fields can appear as added and removed lines. Changing volatile timestamps or TTLs can produce differences even when the underlying configuration is unchanged.
Exact line text is the default. The optional whitespace setting ignores only trailing spaces and tabs, keeping spaces inside a line significant. The final-newline difference remains visible. Unchanged lines are hidden by default to keep the report compact; enabling them changes the display, not which differences exist.
Limits and privacy
Inputs stay in this page’s memory. They are not uploaded, stored, put in a URL or applied as configuration. Other control characters, including terminal color escape sequences, are rejected. The comparison uses bounded work to keep the page responsive.
